Angele Thibodeaux Burns is a native New Orleanian, dedicated educator, nonprofit leader, and lifelong learner. Angele attended Xavier University of Louisiana where she earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education. She also earned a master’s degree from the University of AZ and a Specialist’s degree from USM. In 2003, Angele earned a Ph.D. from LSU in Educational Leadership and Research.
Over the past three decades, Angele has served children and families in many professional capacities. Some of her experiences include serving as an elementary teacher, leading as a K-8 principal, teaching and advising university students and providing executive level leadership for a nonprofit organization.
Currently, Angele serves Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans’ Vice President of Financial Capabilities which is fueled by the generous support of Liberty Bank and Trust. Her current role is focused on expanding access to financial enlightenment for people of all ages, fostering small business development, and strengthening post-secondary and career readiness amongst young people.
She believes education and mentorship are the most steadfast pathways toward living a life of economic self-sufficiency. She believes equitable access to a high-quality K-12 education is essential for leveling the playing field and closing wealth-building gaps in this country.
Angele volunteers with several local organizations. She also enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies, finding new books to read, traveling, and eating delicious food paired with a great glass of wine.
